Meet the Principal
Meet Raquel Katz, Principal
I am honored and excited to continue to serve as principal of Ryan STEAM Academy during the 2019/2020 school year. As your principal, I look forward to strengthening the relationships that I've built with our families, students, and community as well as forming new relationships with our incoming families. As I enter my 6th year as principal, I have seen our school grow tremendously and we have most recently been awarded the High Impact Achievement Award in the area of math in 2019. In 2018, we were also recognized by Santa Clara County as a recipient of the Hoffmann Award in STEAM and parent engagement.
This year promises to be filled with lots of opportunities for all of our students to reach their greatest potential. My wonderful staff and I are proud to offer a rigorous Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) program to all students in grades TK-5th. We also provide after school enrichment including art classes (painting, sewing, puppet making, origami, etc.), a robotics club, competitive sports teams, Lil' Kickers and Lil' Hitters (soccer and baseball for 4 and 5 year olds), City Year, as well as our Little Heroes Academy. This year we are proud to offer the Jungle Book musical for our students after receiving wonderful feedback about our Lion King performance. Additionally, we will offer a weekly comprehensive art enrichment class for all TK-2nd grade grade levels taught by a credentialed art teacher. Our school offers the most enrichment activities in the area!
Parent and community collaboration is key to the success of our school. I believe in providing workshops and events that interest our parents. Last year, we offered baby and me art classes, literacy workshops, and professional development around our state testing! We also have events throughout the year including our Back to School Community Breakfast, October Fall Festival, Hopathon, Easter Egg Hunt, walking parent field trips, our Mother's Day celebration, holiday performance, and much, much more! I urge you to join our parent coffees and check our website often to stay informed and involved.
Please know that I am always available to discuss any questions you may have. I look forward to a productive and rewarding school year.
